Facebook bites or a blog on blogging

So I am trying to do the whole face book thing. I tried to post my status this morning and was told it was too long to post- apparently I am long winded. I just couldn't make up my mind on which pointless, meaningless blurb to post about myself. There is a lot going on in my life I couldn't get it to fit into 2 or 3 sentences! I love the freedom of blogging.
I can type as long as I want.
Why do we have to facebook?
And I must add I feel a bit held back by the fact that my 15 year old son has my comments appear on his wall. I have to watch what I post! Aww blogspot I love you!
I will say face book doesn't put as much pressure on you to say something meaningful or entertaining. I can update with "folding laundry" and that is completely acceptable --yet so lame!!! Sorry to anyone who has updated with "folding laundry" but it had to be said!
And you do feel a certain pressure to change up your play list and background but face book doesn't even allow ANY type of individuality on their site they are all blandly the same. So sad. Too bad there isn't a happy medium.
Oh well I am off to update my background and make a new playlist.

Ahh! My internet is back on! Life resumes. Hello Ladies!

Monday, July 6, 2009

Look it's a post!

Just a short one though. I have been trying to do the facebook thing at my bestest friends request (Amber Rose) and so the tiny slot of computer time I allow myself, I spend there. Look me up if you are on Facebook!
I do have to say I like blogging better, but it is way more time consuming.

When we made our move in May our computer died and so for like a month we went without!
Craziness
Then we just gave up trying to fix it and hooked up our very old lame computer that we had given to the kids years ago. It still works but has none of my bookmarks on it or my passwords remembered!

Life is crazy as usual. My family is having a reunion for the first time in many years. My parents are celebrating there 5oth wedding anniversary and my mom also just turned 75 so they requested something special. We have been working on it for about 2 years now and it should be pretty awesome week long event. I am looking forward to seeing my brothers & sisters, some of which I haven't seen in over FIVE years! We will have 40 cousins to play together it should be some seriously crazy fun. My sister Lorain, (also known as the fun sister) is staying with me, along with her equally fun husband Danny and there 9 children.

SEE WHAT I MEAN ABOUT
CRAZY FUN!!!

I have noticed that I have used the word crazy A LOT in this blog and can't help but wonder the implications.
Yes I am feeling a little bit crazy. Nothing that some chocolate can't cure though!
M&M's here I come!

Feeling pretty good

So it has been awhile since I posted and I figured I should update.

It looks like the house situation is gonna work out.
There is a house available in our current ward that is still 5 bedrooms and just a little bit smaller but costs $180 less a month. So that is cool. I must say I have never chosen a house before because of what ward it was in. I have done that with the schools but when I was searching for rentals I seriously couldn't bring myself to really consider anything not in this ward. I have lived in A LOT of different wards. In fact I counted it up and this will be our FOURTEENTH move. 14!!!! in 16 years!!! How am I not insane?! (okay I actually might be slightly insane, but whatever)
What that all translates into (besides the need for Prozac) is I have been in a lot of wards.

Some people might say that in isn't actually the ward that is so awesome but just other things that are affecting my judgement. Now I do acknowledge that I am in a pretty good place in my life right now.
Things have been going pretty well for us.
I just sent my last kid off to school so I have time to myself,
(to think of excuses of why I can't do the laundry)
I have no potty training going on ever again!
Having the kid old enough to babysit
is like the greatest thing ever to happen to me (Date nights rock)
The kids all sleep thru the night usually

But I don't think my good lifeness is affecting my ability to assess the ward situation.
There is just something about this area, the 'Copa.

I really think it is because Maricopa is such a new town. Just a few years ago there was only about 3,000 people here, (about the size of Snowflake, AZ). Then came the housing developments. Lots and lots of them. They estimate Maricopa at about 30,000 now. So that means

EVERYONE IS NEW!

Generally people have only lived here a year or two, the old timers have lived here 3 years. I've decided that means

Everyone is looking for a friend.

It has been sooo easy to make friends here. I have never had as many friends as I do here in 4th Ward. The last ward I was in was in a small town where the families had been around for decades. People had had the same friends since high school! Or they would just be doing stuff with their own family. They didn't need any more friends.

There is something too, I think about the fact that all the houses are kind of the same. I usually have lived in a sad, run down (cheap) house, and would feel self conscious about inviting people over. But here everyone has a newish house, in one shade or another of tan. At first it was kind of annoying all the sameness, but now I view it almost as an equalizer. I think it makes you focus more on getting to know the person, you want to see differences, so you don't all blend into tan blandness.

It really has been so awesome to have friends to do things with. Game nights, GNO, Ugly dress party! (see older blog) bowling (another blog), Ikea shopping, late night mischief (tee hee) (see Jolenes blog),or just hanging out and chatting.
My new awesome friend Jen and I are planning a 1984 highschool reunion party for next month. Some seriously silly fun.
(If you want to like fur shure be on the guest list give me a howdy in the comments section)

There are some very cool fun people here in the 'Copa.
Check out my blog list to see for yourself.
if you are very cool (or even semi cool) and for some reason NOT on my blog list leave me a comment and I will add you.

I realize now I LOVE being around fun people.
Why has it taken me so long to realize this?
I think I was too busy being stressed out to see it.

Fun is way better than stress

just in case you didn't know that.
So it looks like we will be moving in a few weeks. LAME! I despise moving. AGAIN! But I should be use to it by now.

At least I won't have to give up my 'Copa gals.

Yay for new friends!

And e squeeze to all my old ones I've made in my batrillion moves. Love you too ladies!

Introspective

So I am feeling very introspective as my blog title suggests yet can never find the time to compose a blog! Maybe it is my subconscious trying to block me. I do feel like I need to blog something new. Need to look at something else when I check my blog.

Life is life

But at least, in all the stressful craziness, I often have moments of peace, where I just know everything will be okay.
(I do mean literally moments like for half a second as I run around crazy with my head chopped off)

The main reason I had to blog is it was time to change my music and I wanted to tell you about my song choices.

I have heard the "Lucky" song as I have stopped by other people's blogs and totally love the song. (does that make me a lame copy cat girl? whatever) I really love the song the harmony, the lyrics -all of it.

The flightless bird is from the Twilight soundtrack of course
(if you didn't know that you must have been living in a cave for the last year)
I instantly fell in love with this song and its quirky, intriguing lyrics but I really liked it when I made my husband listen to it and he kind of liked it too.
You need some background here my husband and I have very extremely different music tastes. Not to say that sometimes I like his music -I am fairly versatile - but he RARELY likes anything I like so that was a major plus for this already awesome song.

Now for the last song -very weird choice I agree. Background needed once again- and related to my husband again. This is the first song my husband and I danced to. It was at a LDS singles dance in the early 90's (1991 ?! I think that is right ouch oldness) and as we danced he actually softly sang some of the lyrics of this song to me.
(as in Super sweet 'Enchanted' scene) which now I must find a link to.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB_Qh5TBGoc this is the one he actually sings to her.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRYU4cqUAUs this one is the one in the park it is just so good but also he mentions that he doesn't sing -but then when he realizes he loves her he does sing.
If you haven't seen this movie you need to come to my house right now and watch it. I have it on dvr -It was one thing I could squeeze on there with all my SYTYCD episodes!

So of course I get all mushy, I'm not sure why I suddenly went all chickifide on you like that sorry. I guess just being ultra stressed makes me lean on my sweet husband more, which in turn makes me appreciate him more which apparently equals mush.

So that is the explanation for my new, kind of quirky play list. The song list is short because so is my time!

Hope this is all semi coherent.

It's the time to disco...

This is what I woke up with stuck in my head.

You have to click on this link and laugh.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKg50oEdiOk

My neighbor/friend came over yesterday and she introduced me to
Bollywood!

LOVED IT! So funny- so quirky -so silly - so much tissue needed at the end end of the movie.
The above clip apparently is what people from India think we here in America dance like. lol The music from the movie was great -so much fun. The only problem is that none of the songs are in English so you can't really sing along-except for a few lines like "It's the time to disco!". The music make you want to dance.

Here is a clip of what they dance like over in India.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzs1ZoLzwMw

I'm doing some cool moves right now in my den as I type this!

You know you want to join in!

Have fun!

Thanks Johanna :)

P.S. In case you are interested the name of the movie was
Kal Ho Na Ho
and you have to watch it with subtitles.

Not soon enough

May is too far away!!!

Too soon?

Not if your hard core!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiyHTnvae-s

Okay there might be some of you out there who don't know that I have a addiction.

It is a sytycd addiction.
('So You Think You Can Dance' for those people who don't know)

It might be at a problem level because when we moved here to Maricopa the
Dish installer guy was like
'hey do you want me to up grade your receiver, it won't cost you anything?'
I replied 'uh...Will I be able to still watch the things I have DVR'd?'
Dish guy says 'uh...no'
I said 'no way I am losing season 3 and season 4 of So you think you can dance, sorry no upgrade for me'
Dish guy kind of looks at me weird and points out that I will have like twice as many recording hours if I upgrade. I try to not have blood shoot out of my eyesockets...
Erase so you think you can dance ?!?
banish Neal to nothingness?
Delete adorable Chelsea Hightower?
Never to witness the grace and beauty of Danny's amazing spins again?!?

It was hard for me to not throw the man out of my house.
When SYTYCD becomes available on DVD for purchase (legally)
I will delete my episodes and maybe even upgrade.

That is of course after I figure out a way to make a hard copy of

"Pirates of Penzance"
If you know this movie I totally think you are cool
if you like this movie and can join me in singing "Poor wandering one"
I automatically adore you and want you to be my new best friend.

Who knew I could bowl?!?

110 seriously awesome! Okay I am it wasn't real. We had the BUMPERS on! They were on because the first round, while we (Jen, Cheryl and me) were eating at Ikea (who knew that Lindon berries were so good?) Kari was there with her kids and hubby so they had them up for Zane.
But it felt good to do good anyway (in a lame sort of way)

So here is the story.
I am so sorry for NO PICTURES. It would have been a bunch of horrible butt action shots anyway and does anyone really want to see that? I mean have you seen how big my butt is? We decided that it was my giant butt that made me win something about counter balancing the ball.

So I got a GNO for bowling invite
on the busiest day of my life.

Parent teacher conference
dentist drop off boys ( I have never dropped a kid off at the dentist before and left but we couldn't miss Cheer try outs!! and its not like the boys (13 and 15) needed me to sit in the waiting room while they got their teeth clean)
cheer tryouts (Emma is so good I am pretty sure she made it. she is so cute!)
pick up boys from dentist
Violin lessons drop off (these we wound up ditching because Adam had missed half of it because of the dentist appt.)
Violin lessons pick up
mutual drop off (Thanks to Bro. Dennison who when asking to borrow the wii probably got more than he bargained for- I asked him to pick up and drop off the boys + Hannah who was meeting with the Bee hives last night because she will be in Mutual later-this concept makes my head fall off...when did my baby girl grow up?! but that is another blog)
mutual pick up

All of the above after 2 pm.
Just a little crazy!!!

Anyhow so needless to say when I got the evite from Kari Reed I did not think I would be attending. (side note in my lameness I did not respond 'no' to the evite and for this I accept the title of lame but since I went anyway please do not TP my house)
But then I ran into Jen Mix in all that craziness and she was like
"What no bowling!?!"

Now here is the story.

I really like bowling I think it is hilarious. Mainly because of my most awesome bestest friend Amber Rose who made the rule you must cheer no matter what you get.
Gutter ball.. only one pin..must cheer.
Just to keep it fun, cuz everybody sucks at bowling (unless you've got the bumpers on!)

Well we used that approach last night but mixed it up a bit with you must dance after your first 'roll' so that your second one will be good. It was awesome.

What is funner than doing
the running man in bowling shoes?!?
I got the idea from Jen when she was trying to 'work on' her technique and did a 'run run leap' approach and did awesome! It totally worked!

It's all in the dance.
Another sidenote
Speaking of dance...So we keep talking that we all want to go dancing
but where can we go that isn't totally trampy but still fun?

ideas anyone?

Anyone want to join us?

It's gonna be super super silly!
(and yes I will do the running man on request.)

(no silly not at church only when we are dancing---or bowling)

(and yes I acknowledge their is a big time over usage of parenthesis in this post)

(and ps I heart spell checking)

Ugly update!

My mom let me borrow her camera cable to down load my pictures! Thanks mom! So here are some of my shots.

The hunt for the ugly dress begins.

Actually this was the third store that I had been to!

Who knew it would be so hard to find an ugly dress!

I think the blue one with the thigh ruffles is pretty bad! I wish now that I would have gotten that one then Jen and I would have had semi-matching dresses!! That red one hanging on the door was the thickest polyester ever made to bad it was too small. I actually had a ton of fun the Monday before shopping with Jen Mix and my sil Emily. We laughed A LOT. People just looked at us. We explained our party to a few people that were looking at us funny as we wailed
"that one is hideous you must buy it!" I loved the dress Jen got. I really wanted something that bordered on clown-like. I decided the yellow polka-dot dress actually was actually TO clown like (can't you just see me with a bad wig and a red spongy nose?)
But alas anything that was exactly what I wanted would not fit over my giant butt.
Bummer (literally!)

So I went for the 'flashy' category with the all sequence top (which my mom and sister both loved and my sister wants now that the party is over so she can wear it. Where would you wear an all sequence top?!?) Seriously shiny and a little bit scratchy too. My favorite part of preparing for the party after dress shopping was making the bouquet. I bought some flowers when we dress shopping only to remember when I got home I already owned some! That made for lots of lovely peach, yellow and orange floral arrangements. The funny thing is I patterned it after my own 1993 bouquet with the giant flower "tail". All that was lacking was the spiral curled ribbons hanging off of it. Playing toss the bouquet was too funny and some people are apparently pro's at it. Diana won the night by catching it twice while being mega prego!
Here is the fanTASTical Wedding cake that Chelsea Jenkins made. I think she did a lovely job. We spent quite some time getting that frosting the perfect shade of peach. Perfection!
I just love the paper towel 'napkins', just the right touch. In case you missed it in my previous blog the theme was Bad wedding (circa 1984). Some of the girls did not come wearing a truly ugly dress, but that is okay we love them anyway. We made Yovanie put on the wedding dress I got for $10 at a 2nd hand store. It kind of smell like old storage unit sorry Yovanie! You are such a good sport.

I think over all it was a super fun night and that everyone had fun. Thirteen girls came (my sil and Jeanette Masters came late and missed being in the group shot) so that was a pretty great turn out. It was fantastic to get to know some more of the girls in the ward and to just make new friends. Thanks to everyone that came and supported my slightly insane side.

A very special thanks to my super friend Jen Mix for being willing to do whatever my twisted mind came up with. She is seriously awesome! (this shade of blue almost matches her lovely gown!)

Yay for tacky fun!

Silly Fun

Sometimes ya just got to be silly.

I have determined this to be very important

hence the Ugly Dress Party. It is a party which you are required to where a horrible dress, you know the kind that you might be forced to wear at a wedding as a bridesmaid, the idea is based of the movie "27 dresses".

It was way fun and just too silly.

I am ultra sad that I can not locate my cable for my camera or get my sd card reader on my computer to work so that I may show you the evidence of the silliness that was had by all

but here is a link from a super fun gal that was there that night.

http://jolenegeorge.blogspot.com/2009/02/ugly-dress-party.html

I will still work on figuring out a way to get my pictures up.

It started on Monday when we began the search for the ugliest dresses at second hand stores (the stories there could be a blog unto themselves!!) My cool friend Jen Mix and I hosted the party and plotted the wacky fun. Chelsea Jenkins made a fanTABulous ugly wedding cake to go with the theme of Ugly Wedding. We had plenty of peach and orange fake flowers and some hideous gold bows to top it off. We even gave horrible tacky "wedding gifts" as prizes. We did have a fashion show and voting for the worst dresses. It was hilarious! It was so hard to pick the "winners"!

The game I think everyone enjoyed the most was the "toss the hideous bouquet". Lots of laughing. I think the best part of the night though, was just laughing and chatting with awesome women. Jen offered up her house for the awful display of ugliness because she had a projector so we could watch the movie in style. It was so much fun there was a total of 13 gals including me and Jen. It was a great turn out and just too much fun. It is so nice to just get to know people and hang out.

I love how no matter how different your life might be
women are so much the same
we all need friends
and a good laugh.
Yay for new friendships!
So sad for the people who couldn't make it :(
And if for some reason you did not get an evite just leave a post and we will make sure you are on the list next time.

Oh yes there will be more silly fun in the near future.

Whatever

Just a quick note this am.

So my last post I was a little strung out I have decided to be less worried about it all. God has been awesome to me and has always had things work out for the better in the end so how ever it goes it l be good.

I also want to tell you all about a cool thought I had the other day during my bath/scripture study. I was reading in the D&C in section 27 and it talked about taking on the armor of God. I heard it before even had several lessons about what all the peices of armor are for, ect. But what really stood out to me this time was what is said right at the start before it gets into the armor peices.
"Lift up your heart and rejoice!!!"
I need joy in my life.
I have been fighting a battle for many years but that doesn't mean that there can't be joy!
I have seen my heart being pulled this way. JOY! For so long it was easy to become discouraged or depressed. Why waste time there? Discouragement is one of Satans greatest tools. I need joy!!! My heart needs a lift.

I am just gonna do it... just gonna be happy.
Life is good. Life is as good as you let it be.

Party then kick some evil butt!

Yahoo!

15 Wherefore, lift up your hearts and rejoice, and gird up your loins, and take upon you my whole armor, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, having done all, that ye may be able to stand.

16 Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, which I have sent mine angels to commit unto you;

17 Taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked;

18 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of my Spirit, which I will pour out upon you, and my word which I reveal unto you, and be agreed as touching all things whatsoever ye ask of me, and be faithful until I come, and ye shall be caught up, that where I am ye shall be also. Amen.

My head is going to fall off of my body

So suddenly life has become
SUPER ULTRA MEGA STRESSFUL.
But is some strange way it might be blessing (maybe sort of).

So some of you know I am not a very good housekeeper. I just don't do it well. I grew up in a home that was not very organized or well kept and just never got the hang of it. For years I had the excuse of small children keeping me from my clean house goal but now with Abby in all day Kindergarten, I should be super housewife right?!
Well I was not so super-
(I was gonna start next week really I was.)

Well apparently God decided to help me find the motivation to get and
KEEP my house super clean.

Let me explain.

So Tuesday night my Rental Property Manager calls to let me know the owner of this house has decided to Short Sale the house.
AND that realtors will be contacting me to take photos of my home to list it
AND I will need to keep it ready to "show" at all times for an indefinet time period.
AND my reward for making the house look great will be I will probably have to move.

Isn't that fantastic?

There is a chance that a investor will buy the house and will let us keep renting it. And the way the housing market is going who knows how long the house will be on the market. There is a bank owned home two doors down from me that is my exact floor plan that has been on the market for awhile. We will see. So needless to say we are mega kicking ourselves for not minding our credit score better so that we could qualify and buy this house ourselves, but I am pretty sure the banks would laugh at us pretty hard if we tried especially the way the economy is now.

Here is the weird thing though, when I am not freaking out about having to keep the house Ultra clean Always, I feel kind of peaceful about the whole thing. Like it is going to be okay. I have no idea what the plan could possibly be but I feel like it is God's plan and He knows what is good for my family. I imagine that if we do have to move I would want to find another place in Maricopa. I LOVE IT HERE!!! I really love the people here. I feel like I making awesome friends and having so much fun. (I am still sorry Cheryl!) That life is just good. I have entertained the concept that if we did move in town that I could look into finding better schools for my kids. The elementary schools are good here but the Jr High and High school seriously scare me. (and my sweet Hannah is going to Jr High next year!!!) I guess we will cross that bridge when we come to it. So I honestly have no idea how this is all going to go. My property Manager says she gives us about a 90% chance of getting to finish our lease which we have until August.

HOLY COW LIFE IS STRESSFUL!!!!

Whhhaaa! I don't want to leave Maricopa!
I just started to make friends, know the schools and have some fun!!!

It is okay.
It will work out the best.
It will go the way it is suppose to.
Maybe an investor will buy the house. Maybe he will get the house at such a great deal that he won't feel good about charging us so much for rent and will want to lower it!!! And then he will say why don't we put in some lovely wood laminate flooring and of course you can paint the walls that awesome tan color.
Who knows.
Only One.
It will be okay.

My Graduation

I realize now that is what it felt like. I graduated yesterday, from baby mommy to just mom.

So what did I wind up doing with my first technically *free day*

Wrote a Blog!
Did yoga (even if I just watched most of the moves "for future use")
3 loads of laundry
Loaded the dishwasher
Treated myself to 2 Big Taste Tacos from Taco Bell
Grocery shopped
Filled a prescription
Went to a eye Dr. for Abby's glasses repair
Went to Waterboy to fill water jugs (I usually forget to do this)
In the evening Matt and I got to watch a couple of movies we rented so I had a pretty nice day.

My favorite part was
Went to the Library got a new Library card and checked out
Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice
I also chatted on the phone with my super awesome sis Luise.
We made plans to watch the 5 hour version of Pride and Prejudice she has, once we both finish the book. She has already read it but is gonna read it again with me fun huh?

Anyone else wanna join us?

My big day

Well I have reached a milestone in mommy years.

My youngest child is in all day Kindergarten.

Holy cow, oh my gosh,

now what?

What I find interesting is all the things I use to day dream about doing as I chased all those babies around the house for the last 15 years (Adam's birthday is next month)
all those big plans I made for the time when my days would be my own...
I really have no desire to do!

I know what I am about to say is shocking and maybe even offensive to some but now that I have some time on my hands
I have NO desire to scrapbook!

I know SHOCKING! I was surpised too! For those of you who don't know, at one point in my life I was a pretty avid scrapper, but as baby #5 came I just could never find the time and always said to myself *someday*. Well now this day is here and I have a Bzillion photos to scrap, and no desire to scrapbook them. I have even considered just slipping them into those page photo holders and being done with it all! (I LOVE taking pictures and if I don't have a camera with me I find myself daydreaming of the photos I would take!) I seriously and still kind surpised at myself.

So here is the freaky thing
I have no plan
and that in itself sounds kind of appealing.

Right now any of you who know me well are saying "who are you and what have you done with the real Leah?!?

What LEAH doesn't have any plans?

I have a bad habit of planning to death my days to ensure that NO fun ever happens and that I run around with my head chopped off never actually accomplish anything!

But not today....

I can do whatever I want.

Which probably will wind up being dishes, laundry, mop kitchen floor,

But also

go to the library and check out
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin

and read *guilt free*

because no child is banging on my bathroom door, "starving" because I am trying to get thru a chapter (or in other words -the entire book) in one day.
"Go eat a slice of bread!!!"
because I am home alone!
bathtub here I come!

I will blog again... at some point

just not this morning. But I looked at my own blogs for the first time in like months...what does it say about a person when the never look at there own blogs? (denial...afraid of the reality -that their life is ultra boring!!!) A lot has happened since OCTOBER of 2008! When I have a chance, I will blog... and as you will see in my coming post I am about to get more free time on my hands. (well hopefully!)
